The Cast
The Innocenzo Family
NPCs
L
The unofficial head of the Innocenzo family, the man whose existence was the unintentional spark that spread the flames of destruction, splitting his once-united house of successors and creating the two families that are now bitterest of enemies. He provides funding for the Wammy's House as a training program as well as a home to those still loyal and willing to be his successors. However, L refuses to become personally involved in their war, focused on catching criminals than quelling a battle of clashing opinions, no matter how many bodies pile up and even if Europe is split in two.
Berraby Romano
Berraby was orphaned after her parents died in a train collision, and was adopted by the Wammy's House when it someone realized she could prove to be a valuable asset to their family. She is a smart little girl, of course, but thinking isn't part of her job. Little Berraby's job is to look pathetic and helpless, pleading for help until a Liberatore with a bizzare sense of pity takes her in. From then on, her task is lethal, yet simple.
She must kill herself. That stuffed bunny she's carrying around is actually full of explosives.
Wait, aren't the Innocenzos the good guys? Well, it depends on what you consider to be just. In either family, there is no strict black and white, the lines blur, and to get what they want, the Innocenzo family is willing to get blood on their hands. Besides, being left an emotionless doll after surviving the collision, Berraby doesn't seem to mind risking her life.
So far, her stuffed toy detonates just fine after being abandoned in the Liberatore's territory, with Berraby escaping just in time to save herself. But one of these days, it wouldn't be surprising if she was caught in the blast along with her bomb.
Clovite Mancini
A beautiful woman, no doubt about that. She plays games with your head and twists your words, but all in good fun, she claims. Clovite's world revolves around herself, careless of the consequences others have to pay for her greed. She eats more than a portion for two, leaving two of her own family members hungry. She wears fine clothing, draining the Innocenzo funds to look good. She also is one of the best assassins there is, fearlessly wielding a Smith & Wesson revolver and never sparse on bullets.
Characters
Opa Ophilius
Opa is seemingly a very proud girl, ignoring her numerous faults and talking down to others, and more often than not throws a fit when she doesn't get her way. She's selfish, immature, needy, and was spoiled rotten by her father.
But deep down, Opa yearns to be loved. However, the trust and faith she once held was shattered along with her left leg, leaving her paranoid of everyone, no matter how kind they appear to be. She is always on edge and refuses to open up her heart to anyone--lest she risk geting hurt again. Despite her vile and vicious exterior, Opa is fragile inside.
She was adopted by the Innocenzo family for her genius intellect and possibly a good heir of L's. She was given a pair of black, sturdy canes to aid her in moving around, as well as food and a bed to sleep in. Opa became a paranoid, foul-tempered young girl, and at age thirteen, is already deeply embroiled in the war between the two families. She works undercover as an informant of sorts, feeding false information to the Liberatore family while never letting on she's actually on the opposite side, and for now, just trying to stay alive.
Ines Inonue
Charming and precocious Ines is the hooker with a heart of hold and a trail of dead clients in her wake. To her the world is yellow and black, and her job is to lure the yellow into being swallowed by the black. Despite her sweet and cultured demeanor she is hardly naïve even if she may play the fool for her clients.
Though she came upon her position by circumstance she had decided to throw her lot in with the Innocenzo family. Though she believes the institution of L must be upheld her true loyalty lies with her comrades and friends. She would never betray them, even if she may wonder at times if her family, or anyone, is right for the job of L.
Amel Allen
Amel is, in a word, obsessive. He puts every ounce of himself into his work, whether it be for L or for the Wammy’s House. He is a very selfless person, if not a bit arrogant because of his talent and intelligence. He is an excellent strategist, and an avid chess player.
Amel was discovered early on to be remarkably intelligent, easily able to digest any bit of information given to him, and excellent at deducing complex problems and codes. He learned all he could about war tactics, finding a fascination with the war that killed his father and drove his mother to insanity. He soon rose to the ranks of one of the Innocenzo family’s main caporegimes, specializing in undercover and covert operations.
Samir Muhammad Johann Sorge
Samir at the surface will appear like a cultured and charming young prince. He is witty, gifted with the gift of gab, and is stunning to look at. He’s an excellent liar and knows what anyone wants to hear. He will show respect to women, old men, and behave as if he loves charity.
This is his façade he puts on when he’s attempting to sweep the little misdeeds of the Innocenzos beneath the carpet. A little smile, a little conversation about your latest achievements, or perhaps a small joke, and you’ll forget all about that bombing. You’ll probably hope he calls you tomorrow; but he never will.
Shen Au-Yong
Shen is generally quiet and keeps to himself. He would rather keep his nose out of other people's business, and would prefer to be excluded from the 'war' between the families. He is polite and charming, and perhaps a little feminine. He is very trusting, gullible, obedient and quite naïve (despite his brother attempting to beat 'all people are evil' into his head). He is also extremely loyal to those that are close to him, so despite his dislike for violence, he will carry out his orders no matter what they may be.
On the other hand, Shen doesn't really like people in general, especially after being thrown in the middle of this gang war. If he were to have L's name, the first thing he would do would be to put a stop to the senseless violence.
Cerise Abel
Cerise's sin, is greed. There is just about nothing she would not do for the right price. Coming off rather cold to others, ever since she entered the mafia she has had a bit of an ego boost. Part of her coldness is that she never really knows how to interact with others, and being a bit shy.
Though once you gain her trust she will gladly open up to you. Though very few people actually bother to do this since, she does not come off as the friendliest of people. Is very loyal to her friends though, but would never betray Amel. Even if paid all the money in the world.
Panas Demidov
His early exposure to tragedy has left Panas an individual fearful of other people and willing to obey all authority. He does have his own sense of morals, but his own personal emotions will be neglected if they conflict with his orders. Though he's fully aware of the risk, Panas can't bring himself to say no to anything, even if his orders are something like: "go into Liberatore territory and conceal X number of explosives nearby".
However, though he may carry out an action, his heart would not be in it, and his emotions tend to spill over into reactions such as crying or going into a panic. But he still gets the job done.
Adrienne Ayers
Sarcastic, bitter and witty, Adrienne tends to often times not know how to hold her tongue. Her rebellious attitude stems from her competition with Amel early on as she attempted to live outside of his shadow. However, she is loyal to her family, takes orders without question and has excellent people skills; she can adapt to a situation easily and is an excellent actress.
Her overbearing façade is really just that. Inside she is still insecure about the fact that she never managed to surpass Amel mentally, but she is quickly relaxing into her niche as a successful assassin and undercover agent for the Innocenzos. She’s even learning to take orders from him without too much back talk. She has a tendency to take on a lot of projects at once, but has proven herself to be an excellent multitasker.
Owen Martin Finn
Owen is a nice person when he's around you. He tends to talk behind people's backs and do things that will harm them while they aren't around, mostly because a sense of hospitality that was instilled in him by his surroundings when he was a boy stuck with him throughout the years. As long as you don't have it out for him and you haven't done anything to hurt him too badly he'll try his very best to make you happy until he is used to you.
The Liberatore Family
NPCs
Picard Rossi
Picard looks like a depraved individual with far too many secrets and literal skeletons in the closet. Truthfully, beneath his strange eyewear and black essemble, there lies a sensitive man who tastes wine in moldy cellars to take away the harsh taste of a love gone sour.
Hahaha, of course not. Picard is every bit demented as he appears. He crushes rats and small children alike underfoot, sends the police letters stained in blood and ink about the madness and futility of attempting to halt crime, and while he does taste wine, he is also busy slipping poison into bottles to give to a few old enemies, the Innocenzo family.
Dionna Lamarre
She is the woman seen on the cobblestone corners, with her stall of flowers, her arms always full with a bouquet already ominously half-wilted. No, honestly, she just sells flowers, and cheaply, at that. It's not as if she was strategically placed at the corner of this particular street, where the buildings just happen to have all their windows open, for any underhanded purpose. That flower in her hair is just for decoration, and isn't it lovely? ...Oh, what's that? It's really a hidden microphone, you say? Could Dionna possibly be a spy, listening for information to report back to the hungry Liberatore family?
Well, you would best be running along now, dear.
Alda Soucier
She's the maid. You know the type. Quiet, hard-working, always keeps her little pale nose out of trouble, and at the end of the day, always gets her pockets full of coins. You might see her lurking around the Innocenzo family home, the Wammy's House. And it's certainly not uncommon to glimpse her with a mop or dustrag in her hand, she is the hired help, after all. And at night she slips off, only to appear with the next sunrise, cleaning as dilligently as ever.
And where does she go at night? For those clever enough, you might witness Alda going to the Liberatore home. And through the window, she would be there, handing over a few confiscated documents and repeating detailed conversations to a shadowy individual. Then, she goes to rest in her bed in the Liberatore mansion. Alda has another busy day of espionage tomorrow, after all.
Characters
Fontaine Franguan
Fontaine is an extreme aquaphobic for reasons he refuses to spill. His phobia doesn't hinder his work, so it's disregarded when selecting jobs for him. A new recruit, he came into the Liberatore family half a year ago. Since then, he has proved himself worthy double-agent material: an excellent spy, going unsuspected of stealing documents and innocent enough to never be interrogated by the Innocenzo family.
However, even though he's given the Liberatores a heavy advantage, he still isn't any higher in rank than when he first arrived. He first and foremost job is being the family's whore, bribed by promises of reccomendations in exchange for his services, yet somehow, never getting them.
Though he acts as sweet as pie both during his work and off-the-job, some family members are curious if there's anything else behind that ever-present cheeriness, but none consider him suspicious. If anything, that just makes Fontaine more fun to play around with.
It's a running joke in the family that Fontaine is 'fanatical' with gaining more power, thus, it has become his constant nickname.
Zachary Zondheim
He loves animals a little too much. A street urchin for the first seventeen years of his life, Zachary has a feminine face and an elegant build, but his mind has long been poisoned by his scathing view of society and venemous hatred for his fellow man in general, having been subject to the cruelty and frustration of having a brilliant mind among the average. Zachary expresses utter contempt for the human race, but rather than have an eye blacked or a bullet through his skull, he vents on stray animals. Alley cats, rats, stray dogs, all of them died under his knife, but not without an agonizing torture. Zachary found his nirvana by finding the perfect victim to satisfy his sadistic ways.
And eventually, he worshipped those animals for letting him unleash his fury. They were no longer stupid, easy prey, they were his beloved, whom he killed with tenderness and made love to. Inevitably, the authorities received a string of reports for brutally killed animals popping up all over the city, and the Liberatore family caught wind of this.
Adopted by them, Zachary was welcome to continue his disgusting little fetish, as long as he did what he was told and sabotaged the Innocenzo family. Well, being given permission to hurt people and not face consequences, who was Zachary to pass up such a treasure? At eighteen, he is a talented hitman, and it's best not to wander the alleys after dark.
Above all else, he can be recognized by his tattered scarlet coat, long black hair, and the stiletto in his pale hand, but if you see him, your death is probably imminent, anyway.
Beyond Birthday
The man is a criminal over every inch of his svelte body. Born into a world where if you didn’t kill you were dead and you could expect to be resting in a grave before the age of thirty Beyond puts very little restriction on his personal behavior. He’ll fuck who he wants when he wants, and fuck over anyone who gets in his way; nothing matters except his own goals.
He is obsessive and even persnickedity in his demeanor. He likes to manipulate others for amusement along with benefit. He is meticulous in his approach to his work and rarely makes mistakes. He does have great foresight and an excellent ability to predict the actions of others. Beyond is intelligent in the most devastating way.
His sadism is tied into his preoccupation with death. Beyond doesn’t fear it, indeed he is fascinated by it. He happily takes his “assignments” as opportunities to learn more about it. To him nothing is more enjoyable than finding a new way to inflict death upon someone as they lie unconscious and are unable to resist.
Pantaleone Romano Tore
Analytical. The test subject and the studier. The pill-popping boy with a desire to study the human mind to its deepest and darkest corners who isn't afraid to use his own self as the victim of his research. Years of being locked away, and only now he comes to meet with many Mafia members of all sorts and a larger world. How should one react? Protective? Should he shy away from the unfamiliar interaction? Perhaps. This boy is unpredictable. He defies his own boundaries, his own logic. He passes lines specifically set up to protect himself simply to see how he would react to the decision, as well as to see the other's reaction. There is little to explain considering he follows no specific order. It cannot be said that there is nothing he won't do, and it cannot be said that he would do anything. There is no order in Pandemonium.
Velia Walsh
She's still the old Q on the inside, though, as her love of psychology and the human mind still persists. Just expect her to be a bit more experimental with those that she watches. Questions that reveal a subject's hidden past, circumlocution that forces a subject to admit that his past actions were horribly wrong, and virtually any other method of psychological torture will be employed by her solely for the purpose of discovery and observing the subject's reaction.
She's not completely sadistic, however, and she's not incapable of becoming close to someone. These few that will truly get on her good side and not simply be under that impression will be revealed to a remarkable different side of her filled with curiosity. Not her fault that this curiosity involves the melting of others' brains.
Anslem Aslem
The first thing you may notice about Anslem is he behaves as if he’s fighting a war. Which is true, he’s a fighting a war that began in his childhood and has never ceased, the war for justice. To him he is a soldier and this is his war, and he lets this belief guide all of his policies. It should be noted he believes in “total war”, and usually follows the same sort of tactics Alexander the Great and Sherman did.
In person he is actually very fair and concerned with personal integrity. Outside of his work he’s very introverted and really the only time he may seem really alive at all is when he’s employed in a task. He is a font line leader given first he knows the best way to keep people (especially the sort of amoral ones he works with) loyal is to “walk the talk” and also he knows better than to trust his soldiers and he tries to use his actual presence to assure everything goes to plan. If you break ranks and you are not heinously injured as a result you can expect he’ll be the one giving you the pistol whipping.
Jannike Jaeger
Jane is a woman who dances to the beat of her own drum. Occasionally that drum plays strange music. She is impulsive-any idea that pops into her head she will likely do-but very cunning, and is capable of concocting plans upon plans upon plans to achieve her own ends. At the end of the day, she is pretty much out for herself. She's too preoccupied with her own well being to care about most people, but there are always exceptions. Trusting this woman would be an exceedingly foolish thing to do, should you play with Jane you'd best expect to be dealt from a cold deck.
Keladry Aaralyn Storm
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then this young woman is probably the most complimentary person in the world.
All in all, the one behind the façade of Avalon has, over time, become so obscured that no one person can pinpoint exactly who she is. If you asked 100 different people about who this woman was, and what she was like, you’d get 100 completely different opinions. Sociable, Sadistic, Careful, Masochistic, Kind, Controlling. You name it, it’s been said. And it’s all correct. Dissociative Identity Disorder, perhaps. She’s never been to a psychologist, no such thing could ever be confirmed. But, in her own personal opinion, the only thing ‘wrong’ with her is her ability to adapt flawlessly to practically any culture and the amount of trust that is instilled when she does.
