Anslem insisted on carrying the prisoner, who looked like a porcelain doll smothered in rags in his arms rather than a small boy. The Capo had checked his pulse several times during the precarious journey, ready to tear Beyond’s throat out if he over dosed the quarry. Yet the boy’s heart was still fluttering somewhere beneath those musty layers and breath shallowly fled his nostrils. At least they did not have to worry about a chill setting in his lungs as he was carried through mist laden corridors freezing with brisk night air.
He just needs to stay alive long enough for the negotiations, Anslem thought as he warily glanced at where the assassin was sauntering behind him. Which meant keeping him away the crazy Japanese fuck, the boy had wounded Beyond, and the man was not going to forget that. Anslem loathed the idea of having to struggle with his inferior, but it seemed like this mission was going to be particularly taxing on him.
He was especially bemused the blond brat was a Russian, part of him was tempted to let Beyond have his way and allow the prisoner to be silently smothered with a pillow. His loyalty to his personal cause however was deeper than his pettiness.
Perhaps I can ask Masque to help…no, Beyond will take that as a direct challenge, he frowned, the girl was the only one he could trust to be sensible and not snap under the sort of mind games Beyond liked to play. Yet he didn't want to create an outright conflict by doing something so bold, he needed to be subtle. He searched through his mind for a solution as they walked into the front foyer.
Anslem laid the Russian boy onto the couch with a sigh, and immediately lit a cigarette.

get them, yes? I don't smell that wonderful smell they bring." He folded his arms tightly across his chest, though didn't bother positioning himself to wait. Instead, he continued his walk over to the little capture of theirs, eyeing it closely. "For Heaven's sake! Is this just a child? And Russian, no less? Are you sure you found the right place or are you guys pulling my leg? Did you find it in the trash or something?" He frowned, leaning over close enough for his nose to be barely touching the boy's. He then quickly straightened and glared at Anslem. "I want my breadsticks." This was with a more firm, criticizing voice. Oh yeah, he definitely needed his daily dose of breadsticks.[/ul]

Anslem did a magnificent job of reigning in his temper by not grabbing his superior by the throat.
We have an Innocenzo prisoner whose capture will no doubt percolate into precarious negotiations that will hopefully add a great deal more territory to the family, except Beyond is bleeding and thirsting for revenge. Which may result as an inter-family conflict if I am not on my toes and you are not competent-and here you are bitching like a spoiled five year old about BREADSTICKS?! Anslem grinded his teeth in frustration. I should kill you! one hand brushed a gun before he thought better of it. He sucked in his breath, and finished the cigarette in about ten seconds.
“Bitte,” he crushed the smoke beneath his heel, and took a long drink from his flask. “I am sorry but the store was closed.” Which was a viable excuse, it was nearly midnight after all, not that he’d bothered to check.
“Now please fetch the doctor, you want the brat alive don’t you?” His tone was polite and he gave Tore a stolid gaze. You can take your fucking breadsticks and shove them up your spaghetti gobbling ass for all I care, you can kill me for it! I am never going to be an errand runner! Fuck if he had survived frozen fields, Russians, and starvation to be ordered around by a fancy suit for irrelevant shit.

Beyond of course was amused at the conflict. No wonder the Capo had looked so miffed after getting off the phone with Tore. The tall man drifted towards the unconscious Russian boy; with his Capo distracted he perched on the couch arm rest like a horrific black bird.
You made Beyond bleed and made his arm hurt, if only you knew how many people have tried to kill him without so much as scratching him. The murderer’s face briefly contorted into a snarl before lapsing back into its usual expressionless state. He darkly mulled over delightful ways of making the child pay, while wondering why this boy, of everyone who had wished to lay him had managed to hurt him.
I'll rip you open and see what's inside, one day. He glanced at the two other men, now nor soon would be the time. Still as long as the Liberatores howled for Innocenzo blood he would have the opportunity to be Panas' death.
He stood to lean against the couch, waiting for the Doctor’s arrival. He did find the man rather interesting, as if there was a perverse kinship in those who enjoyed mutilating the human body.

He had already been waiting in the room for Anslem to arrive with the hostage. Shrouded in the shadows from across the foyer, X's tall form slinked from a seat at a table and downed the last of his cranberry juice and vodka.
Xenophon walked with an aggressive stride, tossing his head to move an errant strand of hair, he moved past Pantaleone and Beyond without a second glance to stand next to the unconscious boy. He leaned down slightly to give Panas a brief scan, but looked at Anslem above the frame of his glasses with his unsettling brown eyes with distrust and suspicion.
"Vos he drugged?" Without waiting for an answer, X put in the earplugs of his stethoscope and slipped his hand with the drum underneath the younger Russian's clothes and against his small chest. He was hesitant to bend over any further in front of this seedy German, but he ignored his natural instincts and bent far enough so that his dark hair was brushing P's face. The Russian doctor pulled open his eyes and shone a small flashlight into the pupils. He turned the boy slightly enough so that he didn't move his neck, but gave himself a view of the back of his head and ears. There was slight bleeding at the top of his skull, but further inspection showed that there was no significant fracture.
"Hees pulse ees veak. You knwow, a hwostage extermeenated befwore interrwogation is seegnificantly less valuable zhan one zat isn't. Keep ze Jap frwom getteeng too hasty." He spoke as if Beyond Birthday wasn't even in the room.
He stood up to his full height and scowled at Anslem and Beyond.

“The little bastard took a shot at me, so I gave him a pre-measured dosage of Morphine,” Beyond indicated his own blood soaked bandage. Of course the dosage had to be estimated as the boy’s exact height and weight were not recorded for him. Still, he was breathing and that’s all that mattered.
Beyond sniggered when he noticed Xenophon giving the Capo a wary look, He’s not the one you should be fearing taking advantage of you in some dark corridor Doctor. The Japanese man let the crude remark roll off him. He knew how to toy with the older man now, and he was ready to counter.
“It would seem my reputation precedes me. How delightful, Beyond can assure you if he’s looking to get his licks he doesn’t bother with boys.” He gave Xenophon a measured, even cloying look. Something distinctly malicious hung around the corners of his mouth however as he leered. “I like men.”
Of course the assassin was hardly so discriminating in sexual partners, but he would always bait anyone he could. Especially someone who could take a body apart as well as he could. I wouldn’t mind seeing how you killed one day.

It was as if Panas was coming out of a deep sleep. He managed to open his heavy eyelids, revealing dark irises that could not focus, only drift drowsily as he tried to gather information on his surroundings.
Soft. He was on something soft. He could smell cigarette smoke, which didn't help the nausea pushing insistently at the back of his throat. He could hear voices, speaking in Italian, with light accents mingled throughout--and one very heavy, very familiar accent. Russian? Another Russian?
Still disoriented, Panas tried to push himself into a sitting position with a slight groan, only for the nausea to suddenly increase and immediately he laid back down, trying to pinpoint the Russian man, before terror finally caught up to his mind.
If there were voices...there were people.
Panas' eyes shot open, jolting as he forced his body to at least prop itself up on his elbows, fighting back the ill sensation as his breath burst from him in rapid gasps. He remembered! There was that man, that Japanese Liberatore--he had grabbed him in the stall, and--
Oh, no, no, no! He was in Liberatore territory?
He caught several faces--two utter strangers--a tall, looming man who was probably a doctor, from the stethoscope in his hand--and the man who had assaulted him.
Panas tried to instinctually shrink back in fear, his heart pounding. It didn't matter if these men had been Innocenzos, he would still be terrified--but the fact that they were the enemy made him want to burst into tears or be sick, whichever would grant him the quickest distraction.
"Vhere...vhere..." Where am I? He wanted to ask, but he was panicking and he could only say so much under the after-effects of being drugged.

Xenophon was far from intimidated by the scrawny Japanese man. He stared at him unamused, and his lip curled in disgust.
"Men, ees it? Vell, I like vomen. And eef you steel feel zhat way, I can tell you eet is easier turning a man eento a voman. Vone merely needs a few sneeps and a makesheeft hole. I've done eet befwore, pédik." The last word was growled from the trenches of his wide vocal cords. And before he could he could retort with something more sinister, the sputtering from the small boy on the couch caught his attention.
One of X's large gloved hands wrapped around P's throat threateningly to subdue him. He leaned in close to direct the boy's attention at him, "You knwow vhere you are, dwon't you? Leesten." His fingers tightened slightly, but not enough to crush the boy's trachea. "You cwontrol your own fate here, vheech means zhat eef you cwomply, your deescwomfort vill be... meenimal."
Slowly, his free hand moved into his pocket to retrieve a pre-filled syringe of sodium thiopental.
My apologies rebenok. I cannot take mercy on even my own people.

Panas felt crushed beneath the grip of the older Russian on his throat, and involuntarily he scrabbled at the hand to tear it away. He ignored that one of his mittens was off and his sleeves had bagged to his elbow to reveal his pale wrist and the bite-scars there; he just wanted to be able to breathe--he had already been feeling sick.
In a twisted way, this was almost nostalgic. The doctor looked nothing like his father, but his deep, threatening voice and the words he spoke were familiar. He was being told to obey, and whether friend or foe, Panas would have to comply. It had been too engrained into him not to.
So, extremely reluctantly, he managed to halt his frantic efforts in trying to remove the hand, despite the cold shivers that wracked his body. He didn't even look the doctor in the eye, despite their proximity. It was a sign of submittance, of compliance even if Panas could only squeak out a few words, his ragged breathing stifled from the hand wrapped around his neck.
"Dwon't...dwon't hand me!"
Not even a beg for his life, but a plea to simply stop being touched, his fear and discomfort amplied by the way his voice shook, the way he squirmed feebly beneath the doctor, and the way he was now trying to yank up his sleeve to hide the revealed scars.

to see, but what he did prefer to witness. Pantaleone put his hands behind his back and walked around toward the back of the couch. Surprisingly out of character he was able to keep his straight face, his dark eyes relentlessly judging the little one on the couch. Then suddenly, with a wry grin, Panta looked up at Beyond. " This is what shot you?"[/ul]

It was a good thing Tore backed off given Anslem needed about two more packs of cigarettes and three bottles of Schnapps before his nerves would recover from being trapped in a plane with Beyond Birthday for about three hours. His flask was almost empty, and he was not nearly as drunk as he usually was at this hour.
Don’t even compliment yourself with the thought you filthy potato eater, Anslem sneered at the doctor’s look. He restrained from telling the older man he rather have his dick fall off than put it in someone who obviously never heard of shampoo and from a race whose idea of sex was either to be passive or put it into a screaming woman. He was forever professional however and like Tore drifted into the background, sullenly leaning against the couch the consigulerie was seated on.
He grimaced as he watched Beyond flirt with X, but he hoped whatever conflict he was attempting to stir up with the Russian keep his attention from Anslem and the prisoner. Then Tore baited Beyond, and Anslem grimaced again. He gave the Japanese man a stern look warning him to not make any more trouble tonight.
Is this the fucking mafia or a roomful of five year olds? I might as well be wearing a dress and have switch in my hands!
...The switch may be a good idea actually.
“Tore, when are the negotiations to be?” he asked trying to distract the other man with something that was actually relevant. He noticed Masque’s absence but he supposed it could wait until morning for the girl to be informed of her newest mission.

Beyond just smirked at the threat of gender reassignment surgery. I see the Doctor has perverse tastes, he licked his lips as he watched the prisoner panic at the very sight of him. How flattering, the boy might as well become used to Beyond’s horrific figure looming over him. He haunt the child until the day he died.
“Doctor, you’re not doing it hard enough, Beyond finds it distracting when the patient can still talk,” he chided, clicking his tongue as he pointed at Panas’ rapidly paling face. He gave Xenophon an amused and vicious grin. “Unless you find screaming enjoyable.”
He was finally distracted from taunting the Russian by Tore’s snide comment. The assassin narrowed his eyes, the Italian was ranked higher than him, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t a gullible idiot. He ignored the capo’s look as he demurely strolled up to the pair.
“The capo lied before Tore, he didn’t get the breadsticks because the store was closed,” Beyond dead panned and leaned down so that he and the other man were at eye level. “Nikki and that cow he calls a wife? Beyond ate them.”
He sighed as if it was a great shame he had to do so, though he gave no reason why he should devour two innocent Italians.
“No more bread sticks I fear, too bad, spaghetti fresser. That’s what the capo calls you, you know. Beyond assumes it’s a respectful name given Aslem is the absolute picture of quiet respect.” He gave the German an indulgent side glance.

who wasn't of Italian origin or female to be honest. Still, though, he was efficient. He supposed he really couldn't do anything until he became... Erm, rather, he couldn't do anything unless Beyond messed up severely. He couldn't wait to be there when it happened, as well. He partially hoped the Jap would be able to get his hands on P, but he would rather get these negotiations done with quickly. He could mess up next time. "We can begin the negotiations immediately," he responded to Anslem first, his body turned toward the German. He then only glanced back at B. "That's such a shame, Beyond, though I suspect they were too much for even you alone to consume." He raised a brow, moving back around toward the front of the couch. He then smiled. "Spaghetti fresser. I'll have to look that one up." With a short chuckle he was finally at the Russian doctor's side. This is what I get for joining a mixed Mafia.[/ul]

"Birthday, you've done enough work for tonight, you are dismissed." Anslem said firmly giving the Japanese man a glower. Tore gained a little bit of respect from him for not jumping at Beyond's own baiting, and hopefully with the higher ranked man beside him the assassin simply back of for once. He was only being a nuisance and Anslem had to keep him away from the prisoner.
If Tore wanted to be immature when he found out Anslem had been implying in his native tongue he ate spaghetti like an animal did, the capo worry about it then. He had far more pressing concerns now.
It looked like the doctor looked like he was about to interrogate the Innocenzo given the sparkling needle in his hand. Which would be standard practice even if it was unlikely this prisoner knew anything relevant. Anslem may need to be here for that, but the assassin certainly didn't.
"Tore, I recommend you take me with you. Walsh has come far in her fire arms training, but it is my specialty. I'm known for it, that alone may be enough to keep the Innocenzos from pulling any shit," truly dismissing his errant inferior Anslem turned from the other man to his own superior. He spoke in a low voice, this was only a concern between the two of them after all.

"I thought you had more faith in me than that?"
She spoke playfully enough, just now revealing herself from the shadows of a hallway, hands tucked into pockets. The situation was easy enough to grasp. The interrogation, this boy that was foreign to the family, and especially Anslem and Beyond, who both appeared exhausted from their endeavor.
"Please, doctor, let me calm him."
Walking forward and crouching down in front of the couch, Velia began to stroke the poor boy's hair. "Hey, it's alright. I won't hurt you, you're safe." She spoke as a mother to her child, comforting his fears and worries with her manipulative skills.
"You'll be safe as long as I'm around, I won't let anyone touch you, especially that mean Jap." Truthfully, she had nothing against Beyond, and was merely playing off of the fact that they'd fought. Knowing the two of them, Anslem and Beyond, he was no doubt the more sadistic.
"So just calm down, OK? I'm here."
